Currently, one of the most common benefits of homeopathy, and other forms of complementary medicine, is the treatment of symptoms lingering or returning after the COVID virus.
In these challenging days of living with the Covid-19 pandemic, there are many issues that have arisen from self-isolating and quarantine. It is comforting to know that homeopathy can provide support with both physical and emotional symptoms that can arise, as we all do our best to manage the uncertainly and anxiety of this historical time.
Change is inevitable in life, but perhaps one of the changes that can cause the greatest stress and anxiety is moving and, most especially, emigrating to another country, whether it be for business or life circumstances.
After one year of post-graduate training in family counseling at Mercy College in New York, I will be returning to Ireland to re-open my clinic at 15 Upper Baggot Street, Dublin 4.
This time of year can be an anxious time for parents who begin to anticipate the onslaught of coughs, colds, tummy bugs & lice that plague school age children.
I came to homeopathy because I was searching for another way to help my sick child. Conventional medicine was not working and I longed to understand the “why”.
In an attempt to connect with homeopathy in America this past summer while on holidays, I had the opportunity to meet up with a homeopath in Rockland County, New York and once again dropped in on The Center for Homeopathic Education in New York City (CHENYC).
One of the most common complaints in the clinic is around mild to moderate digestive problems including chronic wind, bloating, acid reflux, irregular or incomplete bowel movements, food cravings or sensitivities, symptoms around hunger, and general feelings of being unwell or tired after eating.
As a homeopath, and mother of a teenager studying for her leaving cert, I have the opportunity to see first-hand the power of homeopathy to help with exam-related stress and anxiety – and all that comes with it.
Recently I had the privilege of attending the annual conference of the American Medical College of Homeopathy in Redondo Beach, California. My primary reason for attending was to see Rajan Sankaran, a contemporary visionary who has written more than a dozen books on homeopathy.
In June I had the opportunity to visit the Center for Homeopathic Education (CHE) in New York City. The visit, which coincided with our holiday to the Northeast US, was part professional curiosity and part excitement for the first school of homeopathy to open in New York.
This is often the time of year when patients, both new and returning, come to me for support with New Year’s resolutions that include losing weight and stopping smoking or drinking (caffeine and alcohol), and also for a general boost to their energy and immune system.
Along with seeking guidance from books, parenting groups, and counsellors, families also be supported by homeopathy, which offers effective, safe and gentle treatments for a wide range of both mental and emotional issues.
While sleep is a topic I have written about before, I find in the clinic that problems around babies and sleep are the most common complaints that parents (exhausted and exasperated) come to me seeking help for. Again, this is an area where homeopathic remedies aim to provide natural and effective treatments.
I recently spent an extraordinary week in Redondo Beach, California where more than 500 medical doctors, veterinarians, dentists, naturopaths, and homeopaths from around the world convened at the World Congress of Homeopaths.
Once again I am reminded in my practice where homeopathy can fill the gap, where conventional medicine and treatments are unsafe or ineffective, when it comes to treatments for babies suffering from colic pains and other problems in assimilation and digestion.
In the past weeks, I have had the privilege of treating several mothers with new babies. They had issues around breastfeeding, such as mastitis, over/under productive milk supply, and exhaustion from night nursing.
Thanks to the current baby boom, expecting Mothers are ringing me looking for safe treatments for pregnancy-related symptoms. It is here that homeopathy can provide a safe, gentle and effective alternative to conventional medicines and treatments, which often have potentially dangerous side-effects, for anything from morning sickness to heartburn.
